This week was all about getting my second and third infantry squads painted, for what I had hoped would be a game on Wednesday night. But my Jeep decided that it wanted some attention, in the form of ABS system maintenance... woohoo!
Steel Legion Infantry Squads
| Sunday was Easter and I didn't have any real plans, so I stayed in and worked on the first squad all day. It took a bit to get back into the swing of painting these guys, but I really enjoy painting them and once I get in the groove I can paint them up very quickly. Monday night, I got home from work and started up on the next squad. These boys painted up quite a bit quicker than the ones from Sunday. I'm not certain as to why. There's not really a lot to say about them, since it's basically the same as the first infantry squad. These two squads are members of Blue and Green squad, and pretty much identical to Red squad. They all have lasguns and a plasma dude. |   |
Models Painted So Far
| This is such a fun project to work on, and I've never been more into working on an army before. While I really like my Admech, the troops are a chore to paint thanks to all of their details, and Space Marine power armor is boring. These guys scratch my WWI/WWII itch and I get to do quick and effective paint jobs with them, and they are in that sweet spot for details. It feels really good to be able to knock out a 10 man squad in a few hours time, rather than multiple sessions. The vehicles are super fast to paint and can be knocked out one per session, thanks to military armor being monotone or duotone and takes drybrushing really well. Each section of the army is separated into a different division. The infantry is from the 82nd Mechanized Infantry, Company C. The Tanks are the 2nd Tank Division, 5 Tank Battalion and eventually I'll be adding paratroopers and air support from their own division. For now this is everything I've painted. I am currently working on adding some paratrooper veterans to the list and hope to get these painted up soon. But that's it for now! Until next time, you can catch me on Twitter and Instagram.
