I'm happy to report that I have finished it and also started on my objective markers.
The Sydonian Dragoon is all finished and ready for this weekend's game. Unfortunately, last weekend I snapped off one of his smaller antennae on the control panel and lost the piece after I dropped it while trying to glue it back in place. Its not a huge deal, but still a bit disappointing. Overall, I'm really happy with how he came out, even though there is a major color difference in the copper coloring between this one and the original. I especially like his taser lance conversion, it looks super cool next to the other dragoon. I recorded the entire paint job, so stay tuned for that and a Miniature Monday write up soon. |

One thing that I've been trying to figure out lately are objective markers. I want a set up 6 objectives that are themed to my army, but I found it difficult to figure out what I wanted to do. Then I remembered that I had the test heads from recasting the Kastelan Robot heads and I had my first idea. This is pretty simple. It's just a spare gun arm and the 2nd test head on a base made of cork and green stuff, and covered in GW's Martian basing paints. I wanted it to look like it's been abandoned for ages and one way to sell that was to make the glass visor cracked. I'd already done some scratches on the black robo earlier, so I had an idea on how to go about it too. After looking up some samples of spider web cracking, I knew what I wanted to do. So I mixed up some Lothern Blue and white to make the base color of the cracks. I then thinned some black paint and did some lines over top of the previous layer and then followed it up with some white. I love how it turned out! |
That's it for this week, it seems like a fairly light week but that chicken walker took up a lot of time. From here on out it's all about Kastelan Robots from now til Adepticon. I have four more of those boys to finish.
Will I finish them in time? Check back next week for more Wizardry in Progress or check me out on Twitter and Instagram for more action as it happens!
