Wizardry in Progress 6/19/19

It's been a busy week this week!

I was able to build a new HQ unit for the Death Riders project and on Saturday Citadel's new Contrast line of paint came out and I've been hooked on playing with it ever since.

Let's take a look!

Death Riders Commander

This guy is the best of all of the conversions so far. I absolutely love how it turned out.

At first I was going to have him holding his spear, but I felt that as the commander he should look like he's not on the very front line. With that idea in my mind, the plan to mount the spear to the side of the ATV was born.

In order to properly paint him, I've left the commander himself unattached from the vehicle. The arm meets up with the hand on the handlebar, but it isn't glued together. This will make him much easier to paint, especially the body of the vehicle itself.

One part that I'm not 100% happy with is his binocular hand, it looks a little awkward. I'm hopeful that once he's painted it will look better. If not I'll have to snap that hand off and make a new one.

Currently the tires, rider and ATV are all loose to make this easier to paint. He and the other 4 bikers are currently waiting their turn to get painted, but they need to wait until I'm done playing with Contrast paint.

Adventures in Contrast

Saturday afternoon, I picked up the entire range of new paint to play with and it is a blast to mess around trying different things.

So far I've painted a few Conan board game miniatures and then started doing tests of other effects, such as gems and metallics. I'm also currently working on figuring out how to leverage Contrast while doing marble effects.

I'm working on a large write up on my findings. I was hoping to have it up by the end of the week, but good things take time and I'll probably aim for the end of next week.

Here are some pictures of the things I've done with Contrast so far. I definitely will be using this stuff to paint board games up, it works really well for a table top standard.

Look for the big write up soon.

But that's all for now.

Until next time, you can catch me on Twitter and Instagram. Check out YouTube for the Let's Paint series and other videos.

If you like what I do and want to support the site and my painting endeavors, you can do so over on Ko-fi. All it takes is $3 and it's much appreciated. Also, you can buy The Brush Wizard shirts and such over on my Teespring shop, where you'll find a growing selection of shirts and other goodies.
