Wizardry in Progress 3/6/19

There's been a flurry of activity around here this week as I continue prep for Adepticon!

This week I focused most of my efforts on the display board for the dreadnought army. I also painted up a Primaris Lieutenant from Warhammer 40,000 Conquest and did some minor conversion work on some easy build Intercessors.

Let's take a look!

Primaris Intercessors
Last night I did a super quick conversion of a pair of easy build Primaris Intercessors, thanks to some left over bits that I had laying around.

One reason I did the arm swaps was so I didn't have to do a bunch of cutting on the shoulders, like the other one that is shown.

Also, the arm swaps help give this squad some variety.

Thanks to these dudes I now have my 3rd base unit and can now run a battalion of Primaris. Eventually I'll add in some Aggressors and Hellblasters too.

Primaris Lt. Calsius
Lt. Calsius is all painted! He's my 2nd HQ choice for the Deathwatch Battalion.

I added a discarded Bolt Rifle to his base, so I can run him with a Bolt Rifle and still be WYSIWYG and it isn't pictured here, but I added a helmet to his belt as well.

New Shirt Design
This week I designed and launched a new shirt on Teespring, lamenting the woes of spilling wash pots.

I'd been thinking of this for awhile and just recently had the chance to sit down and do the graphic for it.

You can find it over on the Teespring shop!

Dreadnought Display Board
The Dreadnought display board saw so much progress this week! I spent Wednesday and Thursday night painting the building at my FLGS.

Once the entire building had it's base coats painted, I washed the whole thing with Nuln Oil and drybrushed it with Screaming Skull.

After that, the non-silver metals were weathered with Nihilakh Oxide and the silver metals were weathered with Ryza Rust.

The board was painted with a mix of coarse texture medium and Tuskgor Fur paint. I've had a lot of questions about my basing paint, so for reference I used 2 tubes of Liquitex Coarse Medium and 3 pots of Tuskgor Fur.

I mix it together in an olive jar and each batch lasts forever. I've used the current batch since last fall on multiple terrain pieces, bases and this board. It's saved me a lot of money in the long run.

The board is nearing completion now. I still need to wash it with Agrax Earthshade and Reikland Fleshshade. Then it'll be good to go!

But, that's all for now. I hope to have the board finished during the weekend at the latest. It all depends on how long it takes the washes to dry.

Until next time, you can catch me on Twitter and Instagram. Check out YouTube for the Let's Paint series and other videos.

If you like what I do and want to support the site and my painting endeavors, you can do so over on Ko-fi. All it takes is $3 and it's much appreciated. Also, you can buy The Brush Wizard shirts and such over on my Teespring shop, where you'll find a growing selection of shirts and other goodies.
